The Seattle interns enjoyed a night of food and drinks at Safeco field as the Mariners took on the Royals! From our vantage point in the Beer Garden, we cheered as the Mariners scored three runs in the first inning and ultimately won the game!

Favorite Friday - Intern Blogs
Our favorite blog this week! Rikesh walks us through the life of an Orlando Intern at Protiviti!
*************************************************************************… OF AN ORLANDO PROTIVITI INTERN!
My mission was to be able to play some kickball for the Orlando office Protiviti team, despite not being able to play for the first 3 matches: the first because I was at the Intern Challenge, the second due to a rainout thanks to Tropical storm Debby (such a Debby Downer!), and the third due to the lights being shut off in the middle of the game (really!?). I finally was able to participate in my first full game in which we came back from 4-1 to tie it with a 3 run inning where one coworker fractured her thumb while running to third #(kick)ballsohard!
Tuesday Tease:
I was meant to be on the bench for the week but was sent to Satellite Beach to help on a client. This was my office desk for the day. Well not really, but I wish it was considering how the beach was teasing me all day being only one mile down the same road the client’s office is on!
(don’t you wish you were here?)
Wetsuit Wednesday: For lunch, we went to Da Kine Insane Burritos down in Satellite Beach, FL where the credo is “Love. Surf. Eat.” You’d be hard pressed to find a motto that captures the spirit of beachside living better than that! And the entrance certainly screams that too:
And no, it doesn’t look any fancier on the inside…
...See? But it is totally rad.
It is a great place where you can “breathe in the salt air under the shade of a thatched umbrella and tuck into an enormous fresh-tasting burrito to the accompaniment of laid-back island rhythms.” It was not only content to simply introduce the area to the concept of a hand-held burrito, but they decided to one up it with their legendary Insane Burrito: so big you have to hold it as if you were holding a baby!
I admire those who can finish theirs, because I barely made it half way! From their Costa Rican inspired sauces to their Coco de piña dessert (pineapple chunks drizzled with dark chocolate syrup) this place is all about a way of life.
Thursday: My 13 Hour Protivitiful day
This day was full of Protiviti events from 7AM to 8PM, but at least I didn’t have to pay a cent for any meals that day. It began with a 7 A.M. breakfast with my advisor at a small café near the office called Briarpatch. Then for lunch, I met with my mentor and buddy at the lakeside view restaurant below the office. Ironically, we all ended up ordering the exact same lunch – which the waiter appreciated because it made his life a little bit easier. Our bonding moment was definitely splitting a rich triple layer chocolate cake for dessert. Finally, after the work day we had our extremely fun intern event: Go Karts at Orlando Grand Prix, where they go up to 50mph. 4 pizzas, 3 races, 2 hours, only 1 winner!
On your mark, get set, go!
(my advisor Jeff happened to win all 3 times somehow?...)
Freeze Friday:
And what better way to top the week off than with a midday Friday ice cream social in the office kitchen.
Being a Central Florida Protiviti Intern is a way of life, actually, a FABULOUS life.

Phoenix iGroww 'Dress for Success' Event
When you think about risk and business consulting, the first thing that comes to mind is probably not fashion - but clearly you have not been to the Phoenix Protiviti office. Every quarter the office comes together to host an Initiative for Growth and Retention of Women at Work (iGroww) event. iGroww was established to support and educate women about professionalism and how to succeed in the workplace. This quarter's event theme was ‘Dress for Success’, named after one of the office's annual charity drives (and incorporated into this event). The drive focuses on donating new and gently used professional clothing items. To lead our event, Protiviti welcomed a style expert from Ann Taylor to our office to share her knowledge about business casual attire and tips for staying fashionable while still being work appropriate. Prior to the event, a few lucky ladies spent some time playing dress up with an Ann Taylor style expert to prepare for the fashion show. Our expert created unique looks by pairing bold colorful accessories with classic business staples such as blazers, trousers, and button ups.
On the day of the event the Protiviti team gathered in the office to support the brave employees who volunteered to model in the charity event fashion show. After a lovely lunch, the models took their places in line and prepared for the main event. As the models showcased their stylish, flattering, and office appropriate looks, our Ann Taylor expert explained every look along the way. We learned all of the insider tips and tricks about how to be fabulous and how to wear statement pieces such as scarves, colorful belts, and layered jewelry.

Cleveland Indians Game
This week the Cleveland office caught an Indians game.
| Left to Right: Manager Sean, Cleveland Intern Chris, Manager Kent and Senior Consultant Dan |
We were super excited that the Indians beat the Baltimore Orioles in a close battle 3-to-1. The Indians came out on top due to quality defense in the outfield, combined with poor base running by the Orioles. The win broke Cleveland's four-game losing streak, and it put the Indians four games behind Detroit for first place in the American League Central.
What an exciting game Monday night at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio!

Our favorite blog this week, kicks it back to the days of the Intern Challenge when the Interns competed to make the tallest freestanding balloon tower using only balloons and tape. Here is the Live from Disney post about the balloon towers Megan is referencing.

Top Chef Or Cincinnati Serving Dinner?
Protiviti's Cincinnati office took over dinner at the Ronald McDonald House Charity in Cincinnati this week. Our Miami University of Ohio Intern, Alex took stance behind the grill showing us that perhaps we should sign him up to be on the popular show Top Chef.
It is not often that we are able to find out our Interns hidden talents; however, in this case we were happy to do so because we were able to utilize Alex's grill skills to provide dinner for families when they need it most.
Not to worry because Alex was not going at it alone, above is a photo of consultants supervising the entire process.
So much fun!

Los Angeles Office Intern Beach Cleanup @ Venice Beach
The Los Angeles office got together on Friday, July 13th at Venice Beach for our annual beach cleanup! (We also figured that doing a good deed on this day would ward off any “Friday the 13th” bad luck!) It was a great way to end the week at the beach with some bocce ball, volleyball, and football as well!
Some of our LA interns (Left to Right: Nick, Dan, Ryan, and Norman) start off with lunch to fuel up for the beach cleanup.
Great job, team! They came back with their bags full! (Left to Right: Jan (HR Sr. Manager), Paul (Director), Rose (Sr. Manager), and Jennifer (Executive Assistant).
Our interns ran into an ex-body builder while picking up trash and he gave them an old picture of him! Only at "Muscle Beach"! (Left to Right: Adam (Consultant), Noah (Manager), Chris (Intern), Ryan (Intern), Dan (Intern).
All the trash we collected!
Now that the hard work is done, it's time for some Bocce Ball! (Left to Right: Chris (Consultant), Nick (Intern), Tom (West Region Managing Director), Tom (Sr. Manager).
Way to go, team!

B-I-N-G-O HOUSTON!
Houston Interns, Buddies and Advisors took on the Heights Bingo Hall this past Thursday...
And while no one walked away with a win, we did learn that in order to be efficient at Bingo you need to be ambidextrous during the game.
One of the best parts of the Intern program is that we never stop learning!

Cleveland Gives Back - Ronald McDonald House
Cleveland took time out of their busy day to volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House last week. The Protiviti group treated the families to a great meal and spent some time mingling with those who are currently staying at Ronald McDonald House - Cleveland.
Ronald McDonald House Cleveland even spotlighted Protiviti in the monthly email.

Chicago Interns!
The interns in Chicago have gotten off to a lightning fast start – literally. The first event of the year was a scavenger hunt, where there interns raced around to see what the Windy City had to offer. From the Loop to Wrigley Field, Chicago was littered with interns trying to find streets such as Honorary Mike Ditka Way, a building big enough for its own zip code, and the Man on the Five (Chicago’s Mayor Rahm Emanuel, NOT Abraham Lincoln). For many interns, it was their first time really getting a chance to get around Chicago on their own. It was a close race, but Team #1 pulled away with the victory (Jordan Moss, Leo Berrun, Chris DeLillo, and their leader Jana Struewing).
After getting acquainted with the geography, the interns got a chance to interact with the city’s people. The Protiviti office played host to local area high school students with the help of the Umoja Student Development Corporation. Umoja helps students from under-resourced environments gain the knowledge and know-how to achieve goals that may not have seemed possible given the circumstances. The interns talked with the students about the transition to college, explained the interview process, and even reviewed some of the students’ resumes. While some of the questions were more standard, such as “How did you go about choosing your college?”, others put the interns on the spot. One intern was even asked, “If you were a food, which would you be and why?” (Her answer: an egg – they can be prepared in many different ways!) After the hard work was over, the afternoon culminated with an Ice Cream Social. The event was meant to help the high school students, but many of the Protiviti Interns learned a lot about themselves, as well. All in all, it was a mutually rewarding experience that left everyone with a sense of fulfillment.

Grub Crawl - San Francisco Style
“What is a Grub Crawl?” the interns asked. I replied “Similar to those crawl type things you do in college but with food”.
The San Francisco interns along with their buddies and mentors just experienced their first culinary crawl in the Mission District. First stop Nombe to enjoy some Japanese specialty items. We then crawled over to Esperpento for Spanish Tapas and an impromptu serenade.
Our third and final stop of this “foodie dream” was to The Crepe House where everyone was able to pick a dessert crepe from the menu. If you have a sweet tooth, this is a spot I wouldn’t miss! Many amazing eats and laughs were had on this recent intern adventure.

Seattle Intern Event: Community Lunch
The Seattle interns along with members of the office volunteered last Friday at Community Lunch, an organization that serves meals to homeless and low income individuals in Seattle. We split into two groups; the first group was responsible for greeting the guests as they arrived and the second group worked behind the counter serving lunch. It was a great experience for all.

Protiviti Metro DC Service Day!
So what do pigs, cows, goats, chickens, horses, donkeys, cats and dogs have in common? Protiviti Service day!
Last Tuesday our DC Metro office volunteered at Lost Dog & Cat Ranch Rescue Foundation.
Lost Dog and Cat Ranch is a non-profit based in the DC Metro area. They have placed more than 15,000 animals in loving homes since their inception in 2001. They are supported by a set of 300 animal foster homes as well as a few local restaurants based in the DC area called Lost Dog Café and Lost Cat Café.
While at the Ranch, Protiviti employees put their team work skills to good use and accomplished several tasks.
We built the pigs a dirt and toy filled rooting box.

We used our carpentry skills and added on to a goat play ground.
We helped the horses scratch their backs by installing a few scratching posts.
We feed the animals carrots, apples and gatorade! Yes - they drink gatorade!
So if you’re in the DC area and are thinking about getting an animal or you know someone who is then Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation is the place to go. While you’re there check out all the great improvements our Protiviti team made!

First New York Intern Event
As a New York intern, you’re treated to a wide variety of fun events such as Six Flags, a scavenger hunt around Manhattan, and of course—ice cream and game night. This wasn’t your ordinary ice cream party, though. This party was catered by Cold Stone Creamery (yes, they brought the frozen slabs). The games weren’t normal games either. These were games based around the element of time. Have you have ever seen the game show "Minute to Win-it"? Yes, we made our own game show night at the New York office! Just like "Minute to Win-It", the quickest to complete the task wins a prize.
My favorite game was called “Spitfire.” In this game, there were six empty soda cans lined up at the end of a table. The object of the game was to knock down all the cans using only rubber bands. The fastest time wins.
In addition to playing games and eating ice cream, most of us interns got a chance to meet consultants and managers from around the office. Many of the consultants were on client engagements so they made a special trip back to the office to meet us!
As are all of Protiviti’s events, this one was put together seamlessly. Overall, all of us that attended had a fun time and it was a great way to wind down after beginning a hectic first week just a few days prior.

Not Your Grandpa’s Driving Range
A new crop of interns means another Top Golf Event in Dallas! A great time was had by all on a surprisingly pleasant evening in June. Top Golf is a Dallas office favorite. It isn't your grandpa's driving range. Top Golf is a revolutionary sports entertainment complex combining games with great food and an environment you can enjoy year-round with friends and family of all skill levels. Top Golf features computerized micro-chips in every golf ball that track your shots’ accuracy and distance while awarding points for hitting targets ranging from 20 - 250 yards away. If you ever make it to Dallas, come find your inner digital caddy shack at Top Golf. I’m sure you can find a few Protiviti Dallas folks to join you as well! Below are some pictures from the event...
