A Dallas Office Favorite – TopGolf!

This week the Dallas Interns had their very first (and I would assume not their last) TopGolf experience!! TopGolf is more than just a golf driving range – it is a sports entertainment complex with games, great food and a very fun environment.. TopGolf features computerized microchips in every golf ball that track your shots accuracy and distance while awarding points by hitting targets.

TopGolf is a favorite hangout for the Dallas consultants. Golfer or not you are sure to have a great time!
Here Tricia Callahan, Dallas Consultant shows the Interns how it is done...
...while Interns Brian Miller, Rebekah Cutrell and Megan Jungman evaluate if they should be scared of Tricia's golf swing or not.

Houston Interns Cheer the Astros to V-I-C-T-O-R-Y!

Last night the Houston Interns had the privilege of not only getting to socialize with fellow consultants, but they actually watched the Houston Astros beat the San Francisco Giants 6-3.  As you can see from the pictures everyone had a wonderful time!

Let The Real Challenge Begin!

Last week our 2010 interns navigated their way through The Intern Challenge.  This week, they set out on actual client work across Protiviti's solutions and industries.  The Recruiters wish all of our interns luck as they get settled in as consultants on project teams.

... Not that they need it.  We are confident they'll make us proud!  (Tear...).

If you were at a beach, what would you say about Protiviti?  Facilitators Jeff Tecau, Martin Nash, Steve Wang and Gleb Reznik shared examples about why it is important to have a five minute elevator speech about what a consultant at Protiviti actually does.  This activity introduced Phil Fretwell, Orlando Managing Director, who presented about "Launching Your Career."

We are now working through the final day of the Intern Challenge.  Last night we had the opportunity to celebrate the week with each participant toasting another Intern.  The speeches were no longer than two minutes and allowed the Interns the opportunity to get to know someone out of their inner circle from the week. The night ended with a beautiful fireworks display and a tour around the world at Walt Disney World's Epcot Center.

Yesterday on college t-shirt day we realized there was an overwhelming amount of Texas A&M University Alumni and current students present at Intern school.  While during introductions on the first day the "Whoop" was officially introduced to the entire Intern Challenge, we are attempting to convert everyone to be Aggie fans.

Here at Protiviti we recognize people who are working hard to be their best.  This morning it was brought to our attention that Cleveland Process Intern, Spencer Dieken who attends Miami University in Ohio is always the first to arrive at the general training sessions in the morning.  Not only is Spencer first to arrive; however, he is always seated on the front row or near the front of the room.  Way to go Spencer!

Day 3 of work is complete and the Interns were out of training before 5:00pm today!  Training ended with the introduction of Day 4 and the distribution of tickets to Disney World.  The only major decision facing the group of Interns is which theme park?  With multiple choices, I wonder who will choose Hollywood Studios?  If anyone rides Tower of Terror I guarantee to share a photo tomorrow of the drop picture!

Today at the Intern Challenge everyone is wearing their college t-shirt!  We are super excited to show our school spirit and see who has the most school pride.  Here is a picture of the group listening to Joe Tarantino speak, so you can be the judge.

Day 2 debrief was hosted by our St. Louis Office Senior Manager, Steve Wang.   Steve talked through the learning points the Interns experienced today including how their personal interview skills have improved in only one single day, the difference in speaking through technology processes instead of general business and general thoughts about the Internship experience the group is about to experience.  Tonight, the Interns have the opportunity to attend an reception where they will have the opportunity to mix-and-mingle with the Protiviti Executive Team.

The first summer afternoon thunderstorm of the week came through Orlando this afternoon.  Luckily we are all in class working hard and the evening festivities are scheduled to be held indoors.

This morning the Interns attending the Challenge in Orlando had the opportunity to have two members from Protiviti's executive team speak to them regarding the benefits of networking and extending ones personal reach.  Gary Peterson, Executive Vice President and Carol Beaumier, Executive Vice President rejuvenated the Interns for a great start for Day 2!

Sultans of Sauce

Yesterday evening, Protiviti interns braved the heat and humidity to don western wear and participate in a sauce and salsa BBQ challenge at Fort Wilderness in Disney World. The teams got creative with recipes, marketing collateral, and a commercial on stage to determine who would become the sultans of sauce. As you can see from the pictures below, win or lose, fun was had by all.

Happy Intern Eve!

‘Twas the day before orientation, and all through the firm,
The employees were preparing for the arrival of interns.
The laptops were set in the training room with care
In hopes that the new hires soon would be there.
The managers were nestled all snug at their desks
While visions of new project teams danced in their heads.
And HR in their office, and I in my seat,
Had just settled down for our last moment of peace,
When out in the hall, there arose such a clatter
I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter.
The harsh office lights with the fluorescent glow
Gave the luster of midday to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear
But an overpacked suitcase, and a face filled with fear,
With a suit that still had the price tag showing through,
I knew in a moment it must be brand new.
More rapid than eagles his questions they came.
I answered each one, then addressed him by name:
"Now, Intern, you got here just one day too soon,
But we’ll keep you busy for the rest of the afternoon.
At tomorrow’s orientation, you’ll have a ball –
Then it’s the Protiviti Intern Challenge in Orlando for all!"
